Chief Technology Officer at Paddy Power Betfair Group
Paul is the Chief Technology Officer of Paddy Power Betfair, where he leads a team of 1,200 people spread across 4 countries who build and operate a portfolio of market-leading betting and gaming products. Paul joined Betfair as Chief Technology Officer in 2014, where he oversaw the growth in customers from 1m to 1.7m in the space of 2 years, and led the team through the merger between Betfair and Paddy Power in 2016.
Following the merger, Paul successfully completed the largest integration project in either company’s history.
Before joining Betfair, Paul was the Director of Software Engineering at Sky, where he ran Sky’s portfolio of digital content distribution channels and was responsible for launching Now TV. Paul started life as a mechanical engineer, and completed a Ph.D. at Imperial College, London studying heat transfer in internal combustion engines.
In addition to his role at Paddy Power Betfair, Paul is also a non-executive director of Zopa, the leading online peer-to-peer lender based in London, and is a governor of an outstanding school for children with special educational needs in Morden, south London.
As well as spending time with his family, Paul enjoys cycling, photography and gardening
